Last fortnight in the desert

The prickly pear outside of my office. Uprooting this as a souvenir would
be poor form, right?

14 days. 336 hours. 20,160 minutes. 1,209,600 seconds. And then my sojourn in the desert comes to a close. But who’s counting, right?

ME.

For two years, I’ve kept up a “vacation home” in Cactus Land, commuting to Sacramento every other week to see Mr. T and often, friends and family. It has been, in a word, exhausting. But two weeks from tomorrow, my beloved and I will set off into the sunset sunrise, and my extended stay among the cacti will be over.

Ahhhhh! One house. One address. One set of keys. One closet (that Mr. T now has to share again). No more missing family events or holidays or Tuesday mornings with T. I can’t wait!

Granted, it’s not as if school is over though. Now I’ll be flying the friendly skies twice as often (watch out Southwest!), commuting to school on a weekly basis. It’ll be a different kind of crazy but at least a crazy that enables me to live with my husband full time for the first time EVER.

Until then, back to the term papers.

xoxo,
shawna
