Wild aerobatics. Vintage warbirds. Fantastic formation flying. Northern California friends, look no further for your weekend plans!

Come join us at the Golden West Regional Fly-in and Airshow in Marysville this weekend. And when I say “us,” I do mean come and see my dear Mr. T and his fellows with the West Coast Ravens RV formation team. They’ll be flying routines both Saturday and Sunday in the early afternoon. (Yours truly will be there as ground support/paparazzi.)

The event takes place at the Yuba County Airport located at 1364 Sky Harbor Drive in Olivehurst. Gates open at 8 a.m. each day with special forums for pilots, programs for kids and aircraft flybys. The airshow itself runs from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

In addition to the West Coast Ravens routine which includes 11 planes in formation, there will be a parachute team, a T-6 formation team and several aerobatic performances. I’m especially looking forward to seeing Eddie Andreini perform aerobatics in the P-51D Mustang (or maybe the Super Stearman).

Ticket prices are reasonable, ranging from free (for kids 7/under) to $10 for general admission. There are also discounts for military, veterans, seniors and pilots flying in.
