#100HappyDays: Flying on Friday the 13th during a full moon
On final approach to Sacramento International Airport at sunset. Friday, June 13, 2014. |
Although I studiously avoided cracks as a child–who wants to break their mother’s back, really?–I’m not superstitious by nature.
However, when I realized I’d be flying on Friday the 13th during a full moon cycle, I admit feeling a wee bit nervous and not at all surprised to get notified of my flight’s way delayed status eight hours before departure.
Luckily, due to the delay, I was able to swap to an earlier flight but oh wow, did I notice some crazy vibes in the airport. Southwest airlines had hundreds of stranded and 12-hours delayed passengers wandering in a funk. For reasons unspecified, they changed one flight’s gate twice which caused a ripple of switching and even more consternation. Although there’s likely no correlation between the date and flight delays, there was definitely something in the airport air yesterday.
Thankfully, I got my buns home without too much trouble although we landed at sunset and I didn’t get to capture a full moon shot from the air. Ah well.
Do you get spooked by superstitions?
